This Easter will be like no other…but the point is Easter is always the surprising, shocking, and always new proclamation the tomb is empty, he is risen! Indeed…
As I WRITE this article in mid-March, schools are closing, and we will be streaming our worship service on-line in an attempt to keep the COVID-19 infections to a minimum. Our situation may change by the time you READ this newsletter. At this point leadership and I have made no decisions about Holy Week at Faith. We just can’t predict the future. However, there a few events I can offer direction. We will not have our Palm Sunday brunch this year. As well, we will not be hosting the Wednesday Lenten service on March 25. This is because we take seriously what our health professionals are advising us to do to help slow the spread of the corona virus – not gather in ways that put our vulnerable friends, family and neighbors at risk.
You are aware that Faith will begin the search for the next settled pastor at the end of April. This is exciting news! The renewal process will be concluding so this changes my ministry focus as well. I have accepted a position as a spiritual and grief counselor with Agrace Hospice. I will not be leaving Faith immediately. We have renegotiated my letter of agreement. I will be part-time at Faith until the end of July.
So, with all of this discombobulation, I am certain of two things: the tomb is empty and he is risen! Resurrection is a for sure event. Alleluia!
