This Fall at Faith!
After an amazing National Youth Gathering in Detroit, our youth, and the adults who care about them, have an opportunity to strengthen the ministry they are already doing in their daily lives. This November, we invite you to participate in Peer Ministry Training at Faith.
Lyle Griner of Peer Ministry Leadership says that youth and adults are already doing ministry, whether you call it that or not. Ministry takes place all the time at work, school, home, and in the community. When you help, listen to, or stand up for your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors, you’re doing ministry.
Join us for this training event to work on active listening skills, learn about subjects such as grief, mental illness, and how we can help those you know who are experiencing these things. The ministry you are already doing makes a difference in the lives of people you know.
So this November, we will take our National Youth Gathering experience to the next level. (NOT that you have to have gone to the gathering to participate or that you have to be young!) This training is for all ages, and we are inviting other congregations to join us. Bring your friends!
But that’s not all! Also coming this fall! Consecration Sunday will take place this November. You will have an opportunity to prayerfully consider how much you want to give to Faith’s spending plan. Sure, you need to help pay the congregation’s bills, but giving financially is so much more than that!
Filling out the “Estimate of Giving” cards is about making a commitment ahead of time to give back to God. Whether you fill out a card or not, giving of your resources is part of growing in your life with God. We’d like to see everyone put their commitment in writing, for your own spiritual growth.
Then in November, we will celebrate all the gifts God has given us, including your financial commitments, as we collect estimate of giving cards and enjoy a congregational brunch together. Stay tuned for more information!
