I am Pastor Lisa Nelson and am part time at Faith Lutheran Church with an emphasis on youth and family ministry. I preach once a month and lead worship another Sunday a month, as well as teach classes. I also visit people, lead some stewardship opportunities, and plan congregational activities.
I grew up in Fresno, California with my parents and younger brother. My parents still live in Fresno, and my brother lives in McFarland with his wife and two daughters. My home is in Sun Prairie with my husband, Robb Kosky, and our three sons, Matthew, Nathan, and Seth. My husband serves as pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waterloo.
I graduated from Fresno State in 1989 and from Luther Seminary in St. Paul in 1993. I served as solo pastor of Wiota Lutheran Church in the southwest corner of Wisconsin and as one of the pastors at Bethel Lutheran Church in downtown Madison. I took some time off when my twins were born and am glad to be now at Faith Lutheran.
While I was on leave, I preached as a substitute all over the synod, taught Theology and Reformation History for our Synod’s Lay School of Ministry, and served as a part time Assistant to the Bishop for Youth and Family Ministry. Later, I helped with our Synod’s Missional Discovery Journey and am now on Synod Council. I have been an oblate (affiliate member) of Holy Wisdom Monastery since 2004 and have been teaching water aerobics at the Prairie Athletic Club for a little longer than that. I enjoy reading and writing, traveling, and raising our rescue dog, Gandalf.
It is a joy to serve at Faith in Columbus.
