Mission Statement

Joyfully recognizing God’s commitment and faithfulness to us, Faith Lutheran Church exists to serve God through serving God’s people. We eagerly work toward the realization of God’s Kingdom by:

  • offering praise-filled worship to God
  • nurturing individual spiritual growth
  • fostering an environment of caring and acceptance
  • reaching out to serve the needs of our community

God’s love stirs us to touch others with the same love we have received, and invites them to share our life of priase and service.

A very brief history of Faith Lutheran Church:

February 1969 – Local interested persons began meeting with Pastor Russell Miller of First Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam to discuss starting an American Lutheran Church mission in Columbus.

December 14, 1969 – First worship service in rented space at Masonic Temple. Those present voted to decide the name of the new congregation.

January 1970- Pastor Berton Hushagen, called from Sandy, Utah, arrived and conducted his first worship service at Faith on January 18. He was installed on March 1.

December 30, 1970 – Charter Membership Roll was closed with 226 baptized members, 138 confirmed, from 72 family units.

December 19, 1971 – Dedication of Faith Lutheran Church building.

September 1, 1973- Pastor Jerald Wendt began serving Faith, coming from Cedarburg, Wisconsin. He was installed on September 16. Membership of Faith at the end of 1973 was 335.

February 24, 1985- Pastor Robert Moberg was installed and began serving Faith. His previous church was in Viking, Minnesota.

1987 – Three Lutheran bodies merged to form the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), finalized in 1987. Merging bodies were the Lutheran Church in America (LCA), the American Lutheran Church (ALC), and the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches (AELC). Faith is in the South Central Synod of Wisconsin, Beaver Dam Conference.

May 10, 1992 – Dedication of building addition.

January 2, 1997- Associate Pastor Melissa Markquart began serving in a half-time position.

2000- Faith Lutheran Church went online with its own internet website.

January 19, 2003- Associate Pastor Susan Quigley was installed at Faith Lutheran Church direct from seminary.

April 1, 2009 – Faith Lutheran church launches a redesigned website.

April 19, 2009 – Burned the church mortgage for the education and fellowship wing with South-Central Synod of Wisconsin Bishop Bruce Burnside in attendance.

February 14, 2010 – We celebrate Pastor Bob’s 25th year serving Faith. The actual date is February 18, 2010. His presence has been a Blessing to Faith.
